A tactile, offbeat cgi animation for Oatly

Working with Oatly, a brand known for their tongue-in-cheek marketing, Christa was given full creative freedom to craft a short video to promote their barista edition oat drink and bring the concept of ‘taste’ to life.

'I think the result was a punchy, absurd micro-narrative that captured taste as both flavour and bad decision-making.'

Infusing the film with her sense of humour and tactile cg animation, the story follows a self-assured character dumped for her coffee quirks. The challenge was telling a complete and funny story in under 10 seconds, and to do this, Christa modelled the main character in VR then adding her own hand-made textures and materials to craft a highly tactile feel.

Leaning into a vibrant nostalgic colour palette and retro patterns, Christa crafted the compact narrative in one location, letting the somewhat absurd storyline take centre stage.
